Explanation
Downloading a regular update.
Profill does not update automatically by default in stores. This can be turned on upon request.
To update manually, the process is straight-forward:
- From the File menu, choose "Download Latest Update"
- By default, the latest update will be shown in the list so you don't need to make a selection, just choose the latest version number.
- Click "Download Update File". Choose your "Downloads" folder and click Ok
When downloaded the updater will ask you to perform the update. Just click Yes. The rest is automatic. There are no important choices to make when updating, just accept what is shown.
If you click No to the install prompt by mistake, close close the application, go to your downloads folder and run the update.
Please note in the example, we are already on the latest version. If you see that prompt you don't need to update. We by passed that prompt so you could see the process.
How to download an early release or a patched version of Profill
Sometimes we release a version of Profill that is ahead of the regular release scheduled. We do this to both test new features with certain users or to release a patch to the existing version before the next scheduled release to address bugs.
The process is exactly the same to update, but the early release menu is hidden.
To install a patched or early release:
- Click and hold the left shift key and keep it down while you click on the File menu.
- You will see the Check for Early Releases menu command.
If there is one available you can download and install it in the usual way.
If you get an SQL NAMED PIPES or Data Provider not found or other type of connectivity error immediately after an update, please check this article:
